Crews spent nearly five hours tackling a big fire at a scrap metal yard in Cardiff Bay.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service says it was called out to European Metal Recycling at Roath Dock shortly before 10.45pm on Thursday night.
Eleven fire crews from across the region attended the scene, where around 200 tonnes of scrap was alight.
They tackled the blaze externally using aerial appliances and pumping water from the dock.
South Wales Police urged nearby residents to keep their windows and doors closed and warned drivers on the A4232 due to heavy smoke billowing in the area.
Crews received the stop message shortly after 3.35am on Friday morning.
No one was injured and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
A Fire Service spokesperson said: "Nine fire engines, two aerial hydraulic platforms, incident command control units, one water bowser and one environmental protection unit were deployed to the scene."
"Crews from Cardiff Central, Penarth, Roath, Whitchurch, Ely, Barry, Duffryn, Caerphilly, Pencoed, Maindee and Tonypandy attended the scene of approximately 200 tonnes of scrap on fire."
