The Bryan Foley Award - Make a nomination
The Bryan Foley Award recognises an individual in the Vale of Glamorgan who has shown excellence and commitment through their volunteer work and as a member of the organisation they belong to.
The award is open to all those who volunteer within a uniformed organisation, operating within the Vale of Glamorgan and is open to all ages and levels within the organisation.
The award is named after Bryan Foley, an exceptional member of the community who devoted much of his time to help others and sharing skills and expertise across a number of organisations. Bryan was an inspiring individual, and this award, in his honour, hopes to recognise other inspiring individuals so that Bryan's memory and legacy will continue in the community he loved.
The award was previously managed by Barry Town Council, with the award becoming part of Bro Radio's Community Awards in 2026 and sponsored by Barry Town Council.
Judges in this category will be looking for individuals who have reached a goal, target or major achievement in the last 12 months, with actions that have made them someone to look up to within their organisation.
Before making a nomination, we've put together a few hints and tips to help you in writing a nomination that will best reflect the work of your nominee.
Our tips for a top nomination:
- Our judges won't know the person, business or group which you're nominating. Make sure you give the judges as much background on your nominee, their work and why they deserve to be recognised.
- You have 2,000 characters use them. Our judges won't know of the work of your nominee, so its important you give them as much information, backgrounds, stories and highlights as possible.
- The awards are about celebrating the Vale of Glamorgan. Throughout your nomination, highlight to our judges how the nominee has made an impact on life in the Vale of Glamorgan.
- Don't rush (unless you've left it to the deadline). Before submitting your entry, write it out in a document and send it to friends or colleagues to make sure it is the best reflection of your nominee.
