Help save migrating toads from being run over
On damp/wet, mild evenings toads cross the road that runs into Michaelston Le Pit. The male toads will sit on the road waiting for a female to pass by and climb on her back to get a lift to the pond. They start coming out as it gets dark. Volunteers collect the toads from the road and take them to their spawning pond. You will need 2 torches ( no roadside lights), gloves, bucket and a hi vis top (essential). Park in the Woodland Trust Car Park and continue down the road to the hill. You are now in the middle of the migration route. Toads are crossing from the WT site to fields and pond on the far side. The migration season should end in the first week of March. Every mild AND wet evening. See Dinas Powys Woods Fb page for more details.
