A bold new initiative is striking a chord in Barry’s creative community. Gig Ready Barry, a grassroots scheme designed to support and elevate local musical talent, has officially launched as part of the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods, led by Mack Events in partnership with Bro Radio.

This exciting new programme offers free workshops and classes aimed at helping musicians aged 15 and over from Barry take their skills from their bedroom, school or rehearsal room to real stages. 

Whether you're a bedroom producer, a singer-songwriter, or part of a garage band ready to break out, Gig Ready Barry sets out to help you get gig-ready—and community-connected.

The project will begin with a Showcase evening at View 62, Barry Island, on Sunday, 16th November, where emerging artists will have the chance to perform live, connect with peers, and get noticed.

Following the showcase, participants will gain access to sessions led by established musicians, producers, coaches, and industry professionals, covering everything from stagecraft to songwriting to recording and promotion.

The project is part of the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods, a 10-year regeneration plan for a brighter future for the Town, with £2 million per year being invested over the project period through the UK Government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods.

Matt Blumberg from Mack Events is the lead of the Barry Together action group on the Barry Plan for Neighbourhoods.

Gig Ready Barry is more than just an open mic night, its a long-term project to support young performers with the confidence, writing, recording and releasing music, interviewing and more."
