Two teenage boys have been arrested following a serious assault on a 12 year-old girl at Barry Island.
It happened near the Harbour Road car park at around 5pm on Sunday evening.
The girl was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with serious injuries - but it's believed her condition is not life threatening.
Two local boys, aged 13 and 15, are being questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in custody.
The 13 year-old is also being held on suspicion of possessing a bladed article.
Detectives say both suspects are known to the victim and they're not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack as part of their ongoing investigation.
Detective Inspector Phil Marchant from South Wales Police said: "Understandably this incident and the ages of those involved will cause worry within the community."
"Two suspects, who are known to the victim, were arrested within an hour, and at this stage, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault."
