Bro Radio Academy - Youth Courses
Since 2022 we've been really busy developing courses for young people, to help build their confidence, their communication skills and also to give them the opportunity to have their voices heard on the radio across the Vale of Glamorgan!
Through the Bro Radio Academy, we're offering the chance to introduce even more young people (11-18) to the world of radio and the wider world of media. It's the training and development arm of Bro Radio (a not-for-profit community interest company) which delivers a local radio station for local people, run by local people.
We have purpose-built radio studios in YMCA Barry and The Old School in Llantwit Major, serving all of the Vale of Glamorgan.
We're providing opportunities for youngsters to create their own content whilst also completing a recognised Agored Cymru "Preparing to Present Radio Broadcasting" qualification.
Supported by the Vale Youth Service, the current course (which is free thanks to generous funding) we offer runs for 12 weeks and offers a mix of classroom based learning and practical studio sessions. They are run by knowledgeable radio people, with years of hands-on experience working in professional media environments.

(Please note, we only accept applications for those who live within the Vale of Glamorgan and at present courses are delivered in English, but we hoping to be able to offer a course delivered in Welsh in the future)
