Barry’s Family Fun Day to Return This August with Fantasy‑Themed Activities

Barry Town Council's popular Family Fun Day, with this year’s event set to transform Central Park and King Square into a fantasy‑themed adventure on Thursday 27 August.

The event is free to attend, with a wide range of low‑cost activities designed to give families an affordable day out during the summer holidays.

Running from 11am to 4pm, the Family Fun Day will feature a packed programme of entertainment and workshops, including:

• Dragons and fantasy creatures

• Falconry displays

• Archery and medieval knights

• Storytelling sessions

• Giant family games

• NERF activities

• Arts and crafts

• Gaming workshops

• Virtual reality experiences

• Cyber security activities

Many activities will be free, with others offered at low cost to ensure the event remains accessible to all.

King Square will once again host a busy market area, with food, drink, craft and community stalls giving visitors plenty to browse while supporting local traders and organisations.

Council Leader Cllr Bronwen Brooks said the annual celebration remains an important part of the town’s community calendar. “This year’s fantasy theme promises a day filled with imagination, adventure and hands‑on experiences for all ages. We know the summer holidays can be an expensive time for families, so we’re proud to provide a free event with a wide range of affordable activities that everyone can enjoy together.”

The Family Fun Day has become one of Barry’s flagship community events, bringing together activity providers, local groups and businesses to create a welcoming day out for residents and visitors alike.
