Cowbridge Male Voice Choir to perform Barry charity concert in support of Vale Foodbank

Music lovers in Barry will have the chance to enjoy an evening of choral favourites later this month, as Cowbridge Male Voice Choir brings a special fundraising concert to Coastlands Family Church on Friday 25 September 2026 at 7pm.

The choir — fresh from a successful tour of Bavaria and a standout appearance leading the anthems at Wales’ Six Nations clash with Italy — will perform a varied programme ranging from hymns and arias to show tunes and classic pop. Their members insist their rousing performance helped inspire Wales to its only win of the tournament, and few in the group are arguing otherwise.

But while the music will be the main attraction, the evening carries a deeper purpose. All proceeds will go directly to Vale Foodbank, which provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis across the Vale of Glamorgan.

The charity supported more than 7,500 residents last year, and early figures suggest demand could rise by a further 14% in 2026–27. At the same time, donations have fallen sharply as the cost‑of‑living crisis continues to squeeze household budgets — leaving Vale Foodbank facing growing need with fewer supplies coming in through supermarket collection points.

Organisers say the concert is an opportunity for the community to enjoy a night of music while helping a service that thousands of local families rely on.
