An adoption parternship between four councils in South East Wales is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Since 2015, the Vale, Valleys and Cardiff Collaborative (VVC) has placed over 700 children with adoptive families across the region.

It's one of five regional partnerships across Wales, providing adoption services for four Welsh local authorities - namely the Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

Vale of Glamorgan Council hosts the collaborative which has approved more than 500 adoptive families in the past decade.

VVC officers say it marks "a huge achievement and a real testament to what can be done through teamwork and collaboration".

Angela Harris, regional adoption manager at VVC, said: "There's a lot to be proud of – from our performance to our partnerships – but it's all down to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic team."

VVC has been building up adoption support services across the region, such as helping families post-adoption, offering access to birth records and running popular group sessions & activities.

The collaborative also promotes its work by atttending key local and national events - including the annual Pride celebrations and the Vale of Glamorgan Show, taking place at Penllyn on Wednesday 13th August.

The service also hosts two family events a year, which attract over a hundred families - with their most recent event marking their tenth anniversary.

Cllr Eddie Williams, cabinet member for social care, said: "Ten years is a major milestone and a chance to celebrate the difference VVC has made to so many children and families across our region."

"The dedication shown by the service staff over the past decade has been nothing short of remarkable. I'm incredibly proud of what VVC has achieved and look forward to seeing the service continue to grow and support even more families in the years to come."
