Hamilton is here in Cardiff! Check out Kane's thoughts on the West End Adaptation of a Very American Musical.
Recently I had the pleasure of attending the critically acclaimed west end adaptation of Hamilton as it makes its way into the Wales Millennium Centre.
Adapted from the smash hit by Lin Manuel Miranda, this American Musical was directed by Thomas Kail, and is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton.
Winning 11 Tony Awards – including Best Musical – as well as seven Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
Now for the first time ever is touring the UK, arriving in Cardiff on 26th November till 25th January 2025.
This musical does an incredible job at showcasing the multi award winning Broadway production whilst also adding its own charm & personality.
The stage was transformed into a mid 17th century New York City, with wooden balconies, roaming staircases and of course, the infamous turntable in the middle of the stage. Which provides depth to the performance, allowing the characters to flow and tell a captivating story.
Sam Oladeinde does an amazing job of portraying the elegance of Aaron Burr, whilst also hinting at the minor jealousy the character has towards Hamilton, which stars Shaq Taylor - Who does a great job capturing every detail of the character. Special mentions go to Billy Nevers as Marquis de Laffyette & Daniel Boys as King George who added sass & comedy to the performance, leaving the audience in stitches with every line punched.

The entire cast is fabulous, every actor captures each character brilliantly and adds personality to the entire performance. Keeping you thoroughly entertained throughout the show.
The fast paced story telling kept you on your toes with incredible choreography & a blend of music styles. From the smooth rapping in My Shot, to the heartfelt ballad of Burn. There will be at least one song in the track list that will keep stick in your head.
This show is a must see and I highly recommend you go see it whilst it's in Cardiff, it's an incredible production that will keep you hooked throughout, with amazing storytelling, funny quips and the odd emotional moment.
