Barry Town United are out of the Women’s Welsh Cup after a first-round defeat at Penybont.
The Adran Premier club were beaten on penalties by second-tier opposition following a goalless draw on Sunday.
Manager James Fishlock looked to build on back-to-back league wins by naming an unchanged side from last Sunday’s win over Aberystwyth.
Barry dominated the first half with Sienna Stone nearly putting the visitors ahead in just seconds only for her effort to go wide.
But there were few clear cut chances of note - with Ellie Preece’s shot from close range blocked on the line while in the closing stages, Lucy Attwood broke ranks and teed up Beca Thomas, who was narrowly off target.
A frustrating afternoon got worse for Barry as both Preece and Thomas missed their spot kicks at the shoot-out before Mae Taylor struck past keeper Molly Arnesen to claim a famous 4-2 victory for Penybont.
The Adran Premier campaign resumes next Sunday when Barry travel to Briton Ferry Llansawel (2pm kick off)
