Cameron Hughes was set to get an enthusiastic reception from his Barry RFC Youth teammates following his recent appearance for Gloucester U17s.
Cam, who played at number 9, scored a try in their 33-28 defeat to Saracens U17s to the StoneX Stadium.
The Gloucester coaches were pleased with his control and game management, and highlighted that he took his early try well, handing off the Saracens’ left winger and having the pace to get over in the right-hand corner.
Peter O'Sullivan, Barry's youth head coach, said: "I’ve been coaching Cam for a few years now. He’s physically very fit and has a great service, and is equally adept at 9 and 10."
"However he’s much more than that. He always has plenty of time on the ball, he sees things others don’t see, and his commitment is always 100%."
"We will manage his game time between Barry and Gloucester and hopefully give him every opportunity to fulfil his undoubted potential."
Barry Youth will be looking for their third win on the bounce when they visit Pontypridd on Saturday. The Cardiff Division Two match at Sardis Road was originally scheduled for January 24th but postponed because of pitch unavailability.
Kick off is at 1pm, giving players and supporters time to get back to Barry to watch Wales' Six Nations opener against England (4.40pm ko) in the Reservoir Field clubhouse.
