Three of the Vale's grassroots rugby teams got their league campaigns underway at the weekend.
In the Admiral League on Saturday, Cowbridge kicked off the new season in Division 2 East Central with a 46-27 win at home to Gilfach Goch.
Dinas Powys, who were crowned Division Five champions last season, began life in Division Four East Central by beating Llandaff North 31-29 at The Common, thanks to a last minute try from Tom Stout.
And the new WRU Women's Championship got underway on Sunday - with Old Penarthians being beaten 48-22 by CR Cymry Caerdydd.

Next weekend's fixtures see Penarth entertain Abercwmboi at the Athletic Ground in Division One East Central, while Barry look to recover from their heavy derby defeat when they visit Llanishen.
