Three of the Vale's grassroots rugby teams got their league campaigns underway at the weekend.
In the Admiral League on Saturday, Cowbridge kicked off the new season in Division 2 East Central with a 46-27 win at home to Gilfach Goch.
Dinas Powys, who were crowned Division Five champions last season, began life in Division Four East Central by beating Llandaff North 31-29 at The Common, thanks to a last minute try from Tom Stout.
And the new WRU Women's Championship got underway on Sunday - with Old Penarthians being beaten 48-22 by CR Cymry Caerdydd.
