Barry RFC bounced back from the end of their WRU Youth Plate defence with a 38-14 win at Llandaff in the Cardiff South 1 League.
The young Bombers shrugged off the disappointment of last week's defeat to run in six tries and move up to second in the league with a convincing victory over the bottom club.
Determined to start strongly, Barry’s eagerness to get off the line and stop Llandaff was penalised for offside time and time again, with two penalties giving the hosts a 6-0 lead.
But Barry settled down, and a well-worked backs move saw Tom Provis race over and then convert his own try - the first of four conversions.
Barry grew in confidence and their dominant forward power resulted in Isaac Thomas going clear for Barry’s second. But discipline continued to be an issue and a yellow card followed a late hit. The penalty gifted Llandaff field position, which saw them grab a try.
But on the stroke of half-time, 14-man Barry found themselves in striking distance, with captain Rhys Berhens forcing his way over for a 21-11 lead at the break.

With deteriorating weather, and a growing number of penalties going against Barry, the game became stop-start.
Barry, back at full-strength, went searching for a fourth try and a bonus point, which came courtesy of a powerful carry from no. 8 and man-of-the-match Riley Hawkins with 20 minutes to go.
Barry settled and started to play some nice rugby, with a lineout on halfway resulting in a well-executed backs move sending Isaac Thomas over for his second without a hand being laid in him.
More chances came Barry’s way, but the sixth try didn’t arrive until late on when scrum half Morgan Beasley sniped from close range.
“We were pleased with the bonus point, and some of the rugby played in parts,” said head coach Peter O’Sullivan, “but feel there is still a lot more to come from this young team.”
Barry’s next fixture is a visit to top-of-the-table Llantwit Fardre on Saturday November 15th.
