GCSE pupils from across the Vale of Glamorgan are celebrating after receiving their GCSE results today.
Over 27.4% of entrants achieved either an A or A* GCSE grade, with 70.7% gaining A* to C grades and 97.2% of learners receiving A* to G grades.
The results in the Vale of Glamorgan are above Wales-wide results, where 19.6% of students received A* and A grades, up 0.1%, whilst 62.3% received grades A* to C, a drop of 0.2%.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language, said: “I’d like to congratulate all GCSE learners across the Vale of Glamorgan on their results today. This is an important milestone, and an opportunity for our young people to recognise just how much they have achieved.
“Behind these results is a great deal of determination and commitment from learners, alongside the support of their families, teachers and school staff. I want to thank everyone who has played a part in helping our young people achieve their goals.
“Today is a chance for learners to celebrate their achievements and look ahead to what comes next. Whether they are continuing into further education, beginning an apprenticeship or training, or entering the world of work, I wish them every success for the future.”
