Plaid Cymru has won a vacant seat on St Athan Community Council following a by-election.
Lloyd Wiltshire defeated Reform UK candidate Michael Wood to take the St Athan ward seat by 223 votes to 189 in Thursday's poll.
Five ballot papers were rejected for being unmarked or wholly void.
Cllr Wiltshire said: "I am very pleased to be elected to St Athan Community Council, and thank everybody who took the time to go out and vote, whoever they supported. It is democracy in action when people get to choose their representatives, at any level."
He added: "As a councillor, I will do my best to represent everybody in St Athan, using the skills and experience I have developed as a debt advice caseworker, and through supporting the local scouts and the school PTA."
"St Athan has such a vibrant mix of people that make up this fantastic community; from working and military families to veterans, and so many people from different walks of life."
"This really makes it a wonderful place, and I'm delighted that they have chosen me to serve and represent them on the community council."
Meanwhile, next month could see up to three by-elections being held on the same day in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Nominations are being sought for vacant seats on the following town and community councils:
- Plymouth ward - Penarth Town Council
- St Athan ward - St Athan Community Council
- St Nicholas ward - St Nicholas with Bonvilston Community Council
The deadline for nomination papers is 4pm on Friday 23rd January - if any election is contested, the polls will be held on Thursday 19th February.
