Police are investigating a dog attack on a conservation flock of grazing sheep at Porthkerry Country Park.
According to a shepherd, one sheep was killed and another had to be put down becuase of her injuries following the incident at the lower paddock on Saturday morning.
Two more sheep needed stitches to their throats and five others also suffered throat injuries.
Conservation grazing has been taking place at the country parks at Porthkerry and Cosmeston Lakes in an effort to improve the condition of the grassland as part of a joint partnership between the Vale Local Nature Partnership and the county council.
A South Wales Police spokesperson confirmed the attack was reported to them, but it's believed there were no witnesses.
