​Young Darts Stars Step Up to Mentor Pupils at Pencoedtre High School

​Young players from the Cogan Coronation Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) Academy swapped competitive play for coaching this week, delivering an interactive sports session for pupils at Pencoedtre High School in Barry.

The session was delivered as part of the school’s summer "Food & Fun" programme, which provides local children with physical activity, enrichment, and healthy meals during the school holidays.

​Six of the academy's senior players—Archie, Dylan, Drew, Jack, Theo, and Evan Green—alongside coaches Kate Pridham, Russ, and Andrew, spent Thursday, 30th July, morning in the school's Main Hall showing Year 7 and 8 pupils how to play the sport, guiding them through target games, and sharing their passion for darts.

​Kate Pridham, Academy Director and local resident, said ​"It was a fantastic opportunity to give back to our local community and introduce new children to a sport we are all so passionate about. Darts is brilliant for young people—it’s inclusive, active, and sneaks in plenty of mental maths practice."

​"We are exceptionally proud of our academy players. They represented us with total excellence, stepping naturally into mentoring roles and acting as fantastic role models for the younger pupils."

​Following the successful morning sessions, the young volunteers were treated to a well-earned lunch to celebrate their hard work and community spirit.
