Barry Town United went down 3-1 at home to Aberystwyth Town in the Adran Premier.
Erin Murray was sent off in added time as Stevie McCarthy Campbell's side squandered an early lead against an Aber side who had won just two league games ahead of Sunday's encounter at Jenner Park.
Barry went ahead after 12 minutes via a direct free kick from Jasmine Turner, but barely two minutes later, the hosts conceded a penalty for a late foul by Holly Jenkins - with Libby Issac stepping up to tap home the equaliser past keeper Molly Arnesen.
Her opposite number, Chelsea Number, denied Turner from adding a second after some fine build up from Murray - but Barry found themselves trailing after 36 minutes as Carys Bufton blasted a set piece into the net to score against her former club.
Barry pressed hard to find a way back in the second half - when Ellie Gunney found herself with acres of space from a corner only for her header to be cleared on the line, while Herbert made a fine save to block Ingrid Aadland.
A defensive lapse came close to being fatal for Barry when Lily Moralee-Hughes blasted the ball over the bar with only Arnesen to beat.
But in the 90th minute, another defensive error allowed her to break clear with a loose ball before rifling home past Arnesen to wrap up three more valuable points for the Seasiders to steer themselves towards safety.
The story of Barry's afternoon was summed up when Murray was sent off for a second yellow card moments later - with Barry without a win from their last three league outings.
Barry remain second in the Plate Conference - and sixth overall in the table - with the two sides meeting again, this time at Park Avenue, on Sunday 23rd March.
