Alan Sheehan and Ashley Williams will be joining Craig Bellamy’s coaching staff

The Football Association of Wales has announced that former Swansea Head Coach Alan Sheehan and former Wales International Ashley Williams will join Craig Bellamy's coaching staff.

The announcement on Monday comes ahead of the autumn's UEAF Nations League campaign, with the two joining as Assistant Coaches.

Sheehan, a UEFA Pro Licence holder, was Swansea City’s Head Coach in 2025 after two periods as  Interim Head Coach and has previously held roles as Assistant Coach at Swansea City, Southampton and Luton Town. As a player, Sheehan made over 400 appearances in the English Football League and was capped five times for Republic of Ireland U21s.

Williams represented Cymru 86 times and captained the side during the UEFA EURO 2016 tournament which saw Cymru reach the semi-finals. As a UEFA A Licence holder, Williams has recently been involved in coaching at several Cymru age group camps.

The appointments follow James Rowberry stepping down from his role in the coaching staff due to work commitments. The FAW would like to thank Rowberry for his work with the Cymru Men’s National Team and the FAW Coach Education programme and wishes him the best for the future. Andrew Crofts will be remaining in his role as Assistant Coach following his recent appointment at Tottenham Hotspur as Assistant Head Coach to Robert De Zerbi.

Craig Bellamy's side will face tough competition against some of Europe's top sides in League A, with fixtures against Portugal, Norway and Denmark on the cards.

The campaign will start away to Portugal and Denmark, before two home matches at the Cardiff City Stadium. Cymru will face Norway on Thursday 1st October and Denmark on Sunday 4th October.

Craig Bellamy is set to announce his squad ahead of fixtures in September and October on Tuesday 15th September.
