Llantwit Major held Caerau Ely to a goalless draw in the Cymru South on Friday night.
Llantwit had kickstarted their campaign under manager Karl Lewis with back-to-back wins over Trethomas Bluebirds in league and cup action.
Their hosts at Cwrt-yr-Ala, led by Dean Wheeler, were looking to get back on track after their unbeaten start in the league ended at the hands of Ammanford last weekend.
In the event, the two sides carved out a stalemate despite a hatful of chances - with Llantwit keeper Ryley Allen saving a second half penalty to ensure a share of the spoils.
Major begin their Welsh Cup bid next Saturday when they entertain Baglan Dragons at Windmill Lane before the league resumes with another 'derby' - at home to newcomers Cardiff Draconians on 27th September.
Elsewhere on Friday, Cambrian United remain top of the table following their 4-0 win over Afan Lido while Newport City are up to second after beating early strugglers Pontypridd United 3-1.
Trefelin are third following their 1-0 win over a resurgent Ammanford side with Carmarthen rounding out the top five despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Treowen Stars.
