Barry Town United drew 1-1 with Colwyn Bay in their first home game of the new Cymru Premier season.

Robbie Willmott equalised for the hosts, who conceded after just three minutes at Jenner Park on Saturday.

Manager Steve Jenkins kept faith with the same starting XI who beat newly promoted Llanelli last weekend, while the subs bench was joined by newly-signed midfielder Josh Bernard.

But the hosts endured a nightmare start on the pitch, when from the first effort of the game, a goalmouth scramble saw Jordan Davies hook the ball to the far post, where Aaron Williams flicked into the top corner past George Ratcliffe.

Barry responded well - with both Ieuan Owen and Ollie Hulbert going one-to-one with the Seagulls' Rhys Williams in a matter of moments, only for the keeper to deny both with his right foot.

Willmott restored parity on 16 minutes - getting on the end of a fine pass from Owen and beating the offside trap before drilling home past Williams from just outside the box for his first Barry goal.

And the midfielder nearly added a second from Hulbert's cross, before a last gap goal-line clearance from the keeper.

The remainder of the first half ebbed in tempo, although Williams was again forced into clearing a teasing cross from Mikey George late on.

Barry made a bright start after the break as Owen and Hulbert again tested the Bay keeper, who almost allowed the ball to drift into the net before saving a header on target.

Ben Margetson denied a hestitant Aaron Williams with some fine defending, while Ratcliffe made easy work of denying Jordan Davies at the far post.

Willmott again pushed for a second from the edge of the box, but his shot fell wide of the net as both sides tired in the mid-August heat before settling for a point apiece.

Next up is a Bank Holiday double - and the first of this season's derbies - with Barry entertaining Penybont on Friday night, before making the short trip to Cardiff Met on Monday 25th.

The Archers are still looking for their first win of the campaign following Friday night's 1-1 draw at Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Ex-Llantwit Major striker Tom Walters set up Ruben Davies' opener for the hosts on 39 minutes, before Jasper Payne equalised after the break.

Penybont lost 2-0 to defending champions The New Saints, while Llanelli were the victims of a 6-1 demolition at Caernarfon Town.

Water supply problems led to the postponement of both Flintshire games - Connah's Quay Nomads vs Bala Town and Flint Town United vs Haverfordwest County.
