Barry Town United Women are through to the quarter finals of the Adran Trophy after a 3-0 win over Cascade YC.

It marked their first win under new manager James Fishlock, who took over at Jenner Park last month following the departure of Stevie McCarthy Campbell.

The hosts made two changes from last week's league defeat at Cardiff City - with goalscorer Danielle Broadhurst leaving the club to rejjoin Gwalia United, now led by former Barry boss McCarthy Campbell.

Chelsea Cochrane was also sidelined with Sienna Stone and Beca Thomas taking their places into the starting XI.

Facing a potential upset against second-tier opposition, Barry were forced into an early substitution when Angharad Beman was forced off injured after just eight minutes, with Academy product Evelyn Ingram taking her place.

There were few clear chances overall in the first half with Keira Harris shooting just wide from India Shanahan's cross while Olivia Townsend's powerful effort for the visitors hit the post.

But Barry took full advantage in the last five minutes when Thomas turned her marker to find Shanahan, unmarked in the box, who volleyed home past Hollie Williams on 41 minutes.

The Cascade defence were again found wanting three minutes later as Keira Harris headed home Lucy Attwood's cross to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

And Barry didn't need to wait long to wrap up the win - with another fine move from Attwood who fed Thomas to slot home just four minutes after the break.

Cascade struggled to reply in kind - and while chances were again at a premium for the rest of the second half, Barry had done enough for a first win under new management.

Fishlock will be seeking his first Adran Premier win at the third time of asking next Sunday when they entertain Aberystwyth Town.

Elsewhere, the first round saw no shocks for Adran Premier teams with 7-0 home wins for both Cardiff City and Aberystwyth Town over Flint Town United and Y Felinheli respectively.

Trophy holders The New Saints edged out Llanfair United in a 5-4 thriller, while bottom club Pontypridd United finally earned their first win of the season, beating Llanelli Town 1-0.

Briton Ferry Llansawel avoid a banana skin against Cwmbran Celtic, winning 3-2 at Old Road, while Swansea City cruised through with a 4-0 win over Cardiff Met and Wrexham thumped Llandudno 9-0.
