Barry Town United are through to the quarter finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup after beating Llanelli Town 1-0.
A second half goal from substitute Ieuan Owen proved the difference for Steve Jenkins' men at Jenner Park on Wednesday night.
Barry had gone without a win in their last five Cymru Premier games while newly promoted Llanelli, under manager Lee John, continue to prop up the table having yet to register a single point so far this season.
Deadline day signing Morgan Wigley marked his birthday by making his Barry debut as Jenkins opted for seven changes from the starting line-up beaten 3-1 by league leaders Caernarfon on Sunday.
Ryan Kavanagh went closest for the hosts in the first half with a long range effort that narrowly sailed over the bar.
Town enjoyed the better chances after the break, although goalkeeper Joe Thomas made a fine save to deny the Reds on his way to a first clean sheet since joining from Cardiff City in the summer.
But the deadlock was broken on 67 minutes when Owen, with virtually his first touch, struck past keeper Alex Pennock from Ellis Williams' cross.
Llanelli had a potential equaliser flagged for offside in the 89th minute as Barry held out to book their place in the last eight.
Elsewhere in the Southern section, Cardiff Met's poor start to the season continued as they suffered a shock exit to Cambrian United on penalties, following a 1-1 draw with the Cymru South leaders.
Penybont are also out of the league cup after Briton Ferry Llansawel held Rhys Griffiths' side to a 2-2 draw before prevailing on spot kicks.
And Haverfordwest County knocked out the last of the wildcard entries with a 4-1 victory over last year's runners up Swansea City U21s.
