Barry RFC’s Youth team were in celebratory mood on Saturday, enjoying an end of season social and trophy presentation following their success in taking the Cardiff region Division 2 title.
Club chairman Mike Prosser praised the effort and commitment of coaches Peter O’Sullivan, James Hadfield and Rhodri Thomas, and the players for all their effort and hard work during the season.
“The Youth team has seen a huge amount of growth from the start of the season to the end, losing just one league game in 2026,” said head coach O’Sullivan. “After a slightly turbulent start to the season everyone has worked hard for each other.”
He thanked his fellow coaches and players, and all the parents and helpers for their support, with special mentions for team manager Zoe O’Sullivan for her organisation off the pitch, and captain and vice-captain Rhys Berhens and Isaac Thomas for their leadership on it.
“We’ve been well supported by the club as a whole, and the lads have ended up getting what they deserve.
“We look forward to welcoming this season’s U16s into the Youth team for next season, and can’t wait to see a number of the departing 18-year-old lads playing for the seniors next season.”
Eleven of the current Youth squad will move up into senior rugby next season.
