Barry Town United have signed former Cardiff City goalkeeper Joe Thomas.
The 20 year-old is the third new recruit at Jenner Park this summer, alongside returning keeper George Ratcliffe and former TNS defender Keston Davies.
Thomas signed his first professional contract with the Bluebirds last July, going onto play for their under 21s squad before being sent out on loan to Southern League club Yate Town in January.
Joe said: "I’m really excited to be here. Barry’s a massive club with big ambitions, and as soon as I spoke to the staff, I knew this was the right place for me. I’m looking forward to getting started and showing the fans what I can do."
Barry say Thomas adds real competiton and depth to the goalkeeping squad, and is known for his quick reactions, his bravery in one-on-one situations and his vocal presence at the back.
Head of football Steve Jenkins says he's confident Thomas will thrive as he makes the move into the Welsh football pyramid.
He added: "Joe’s a great young keeper with a lot of ability and hunger to improve. He’s got a real presence about him, and we’re excited to see how he develops with us. It’s a really strong addition for the squad."
Barry kicked off their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win at home to Newport City on Saturday - with Ieuan Owen scoring both goals either side of the break.
Next up is a midweek trip to face Roman Glass St George on Wednesday night (7.30pm ko) before Cardiff City's U21s visit Jenner Park next Saturday (2.30pm ko).
