Barry Town United have signed striker Daniel Smith ahead of the new season.
Smith arrives at Jenner Park from Northern Premier League club Lichfield City, where he was previously captain.and scored 36 goals during the 2023-24 season.
But the marksman missed last season at the Staffordshire club due to an ACL injury.
Smith said the announcement of his signing, subject to international clearance, marked 11 months to the day since he underwent reconstruction surgery.
He said: "I’m buzzing to get started. Barry’s a big club with proper ambition. As a striker, you want to be part of a team that plays on the front foot, and that’s exactly what this is. I’m here to score goals and give everything for the badge."
Smith's arrival at Barry follows that of former Newport County youth midfielder Dan Barton, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Cymru Premier rivals Cardiff Met.
Steve Jenkins, Barry's head of football, added he was confident that Smith would make an impact.
“Daniel’s a handful – he works defenders, makes clever runs, and knows how to finish", he said. "He’s got an edge in the final third that every team needs. We’re really happy to bring him in, and I think he’ll be a big player for us this season.”
Barry begin their new season on Saturday when they face Aberystwyth Town in the second round of the Nathaniel MG Cup, followed on Friday 8th August by their Cymru Premier opener away at newly promoted Llanelli.
