Barry Town United kick off their 2026/27 Novira Cymru Premier season on Friday night when newly promoted Cambrian United visit Jenner Park for a 7.45pm start.

The match marks the beginning of Barry’s fourth straight top‑flight campaign, with Steve Jenkins’ side aiming to build on last season’s impressive third‑place finish. The Town head into the opener in strong form, having won five of their six pre‑season friendlies.

Cambrian United arrive in the league for the first time in their history after finishing runners‑up in the Cymru South last term. The Rhondda club collected 76 points from 30 matches, winning 24 times to secure a landmark promotion.

A big night for Cambrian United

Known as The Cam Army, Cambrian were founded in 1883 and are managed by Liam Williams, who has overseen a remarkable rise since taking charge in July 2024. The 35‑year‑old has won 46 of his 75 matches in the dugout, culminating in last season’s historic step up to the Cymru Premier. Their trip to Jenner Park is one of the shortest in the league, with just over 20 miles separating the two clubs.

The sides last met in December’s Nathaniel MG Cup semi‑final, when Barry booked their place in the final with a 3–0 win courtesy of goals from Will Richards, Ollie Hulbert and Ben Margetson.

Friday’s fixture is the first of two league clashes between the teams this season, with the return match scheduled for Friday 6 November at Cambrian’s M&P Group 3G ground in Clydach.
