Barry Town United saw their lengthy unbeaten run end on New Year's Eve with a 2-1 defeat at Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Cymru Premier.
Keston Davies was sent off for two yellow cards as Steve Jenkins' men fell to their first defeat in all competition since October.
Barry remain in the top six on goal difference - ahead of near neghbours Cardiff Met - with just two games left in the first phase of the league season.
What proved to be an eventful midwinter's afternoon at Old Road saw kick off delayed by an hour due to icy conditions on parts of the pitch.
When it finally got underway, the hosts went ahead after seven minutes as ex-Llantwit Major striker Tom Walters claimed his seventh league goal of the season.
Davies gave away an early penalty to Ferry's Alex Gammond, which was saved by Barry keeper George Ratcliffe.
The visitors drew level on the hour mark from a Robbie Willmott setpiece which was nodded on by Will Richards into the path of Ben Margetson, who tapped home past Will Fuller from close range.
But moments later, Davies' reaction to a Margetson foul on Ollie Anderson prompted referee Ryan Kenny to send off the Barry defender after his second booking.
Gammond's second penalty was again kept out by Ratcliffe but Barry were punished on 73 minutes when Anderson headed home from a Mitchel Bates corner to clinch all three points.
With a top six berth still up for grabs, Barry return north on Saturday to face Connah's Quay Nomads, who rounded off 2025 with a 3-1 win over leaders The New Saints on New Year's Eve.
Elsewhere, Caernarfon beat Bala 1-0 in the Gwynedd derby, while on New Year's Day, Colwyn Bay slipped to a 2-1 defeat at home to Flint Town United and Penybont beat bottom club Llanelli Town 1-0.
