BBC Cymru Wales to Show Novira Cymru Premier Matches Under New Three‑Year Deal

BBC Cymru Wales has agreed a new three‑year broadcast partnership with the Football Association of Wales (FAW), securing live coverage of selected Novira Cymru Premier fixtures until 2029.

The deal guarantees a minimum of 20 live matches per season on BBC iPlayer, alongside regular updates and highlights on BBC Sport Online. It marks a significant expansion of free‑to‑air coverage for Wales’ top domestic league.

The first televised fixtures of the new agreement will come this weekend, beginning with Barry Town United’s home match against Cardiff Met on Saturday 15 August at 12:30pm. Ammanford’s clash with Connah’s Quay Nomads follows a week later on Saturday 22 August, also at 12:30pm.

Carolyn Hitt, Head of Sport at BBC Cymru Wales, said the agreement reinforces the broadcaster’s commitment to Welsh football at all levels.

“We’re so pleased to be announcing this new deal with the FAW to show games throughout the next three years of the Novira Cymru Premier,” she said. “This strengthens our commitment to provide live coverage of Welsh football and follows our recent announcement to show all of the UEFA Wales men’s international games up until Euro 2028. We hope this will be welcome news to Welsh football fans as we continue to bring sport to free‑to‑air television.”

Jack Sharp, the FAW’s Head of Domestic Leagues, said the partnership will help broaden the league’s reach and visibility.

“I am delighted to welcome the BBC back to Welsh domestic football through this new three‑year partnership,” he said. “This agreement represents another significant step in growing the profile of the Novira Cymru Premier, enabling us to reach more supporters across Wales and the wider UK through increased free‑to‑air coverage.”

Sharp added that the expanded broadcast offering — which doubles the number of free live matches compared with last season — will complement the FAW’s own Cymru Football TV platform.

“Whether supporters choose to watch every match through Cymru Football TV or enjoy selected fixtures on free‑to‑air television, more people than ever before will have the opportunity to connect with our clubs and competitions,” he said. “The BBC’s commitment to Welsh domestic football will play an important role in increasing awareness of the league, attracting new audiences, and supporting our wider ambition to continue growing the game.”
