Dinas Powys kicked off the New Year with a crucial 31-24 win over Gilfach Goch in the Admiral League.
Dinas' third win of the season lifted them out of the relegation places in Division Three East Central, despite a late fightback from their winless visitors, when the hosts were reduced to 13 players.
Dinas Powys, under head coach John Dimond, were always in front throughout the match, leading 12-7 at the interval, and extending the lead to 31-12 before losing two players to yellow cards for the closing stages.
Gilfach Goch took advantage to score twice, but Dinas Powys held on for an important bonus-point victory.
Josh Dunleavy scored two tries with Corey Imperato, Owen Buckley and Tom Stout also going over for the hosts and Caelan Hurley added three conversions.
