Penarth kicked off the new Admiral League season with a resounding 46-15 win at Abercynon.
The Bears, playing their second season in Division One East Central, ran in eight tries from eight different scorers at Y Parc.
Alan Doyle, Ben Jones, Spencer Robinson, Matt Allen, Osian Coates, Cameron Sultana and James Candy all went over for the visitors, with Jones adding three conversions.
Abercynon replied with two tries from Alex Hayman and Luke Price with a penalty and a conversion from Harrison Nixon.
Penarth make the short trip to the Reservoir Field next Saturday when they take on Barry in the first of this season's Vale derbies.
Elsewhere, Dinas Powys - newly promoted to Division Three - lost 30-3 at Canton, while Llantwit Major had to be content with a losing bonus point as they were beaten 22-17 at Llantrisant.
And Old Penarthians opened their Division Five campaign with a 52-7 victory over near-neighbours Cardiff Saracens.
Division Two gets underway next Saturday when Cowbridge entertain Cardiff Quins while Sully Sports take on Whitchurch in Division Six.
