Barry Town United

George Ratcliffe is returning to Barry Town United as the Cymru Premier club's first summer signing.

The goalkeeper joins from Connah's Quay Nomads, where he kept ten clean sheets in 30 league appearances last season.

Ratcliffe left the Deeside club last month by mutual agreement due to travel commitments.

He previously played for Barry during the curtailed 2019-20 season, making 14 appearances - including their Europa League encounter with Cliftonville - and keeping four clean sheets.

The 24 year-old's return to Jenner Park follows the recent departures of keepers Liam Armstrong and Luc Rees.

Steve Jenkins, Barry's director of football, said: "George is someone we’ve admired for a long time".

"His shot-stopping ability, command of the box, and presence in the dressing room are exactly what we need heading into the new season."

Barry resume training at the end of the month before their pre-season campaign begins at home to Newport City on Saturday 5th July.
