Penarth continued their unbeaten start in the Admiral League with a 36-7 victory over Rhydyfelin.

The Bears ran in six tries in their first home game of the season at the Athletic Ground - courtesy of Spencer Robinson, Luc Keane-Adams, Ben Jones, Owen Lloyd, Ellis Smith and Alex Abel.

James Candy also marked his 100th appearance for Penarth as they clinched a third straight bonus point win to stay top of Division One East Central.

Barry earned their first win of the league campaign, narrowly beating Abercynon 12-11 at the Reservoir Field.

Cowbridge are also off the mark in Division Two following a 15-5 win at newly promoted Rhiwbina, while in Division Three, Dinas Powys beat Ferndale 26-17 while Llantwit Major lost 19-12 at home to Llandaff.

Old Penarthians went down 34-7 at Cardiff Met Athletic in Division Five, while Sully Sports' Division Six game at Rumney Athletic was called off by mutual consent with both teams citing availability issues.

And in the WRU Women’s Championship, Old Penarthians whitewashed Lampeter Town 62-0 for a winning start to their season.

The WRU's grassroots cup competitions get underway next weekend before the league campaign resumes on 4th October.
