Llantwit Major are into the second round of the Welsh Blood Service Cup following a 1-0 win at Trethomas Bluebirds on Friday night.
It also marked Major's first competitive win of the season following the return of Karl Lewis as manager.
Llantwit's latest signing - ex-Merthyr and Pontypridd striker Tom Stokes - was denied a second goal in two goals on the stroke of half time, when his penalty was saved by Bluebirds keeper Sulemaine Susso.
But the visitors managed to break the deadlock on 65 minutes when Connor Goldsworthy struck for the second time since his return to Major, with Stokes providing the assist.
Trethomas boss Paul Evans was sent to the stand in the closing minutes as Llantwit held out for a first round victory with keeper Ryley Allen maintaining his first clean sheet of the campaign.
The two sides meet again - this time at Windmill Lane - when the league campaign resumes next Saturday.

Macsen Evans, Callum Hodges and Carter Campbell had already put the visitors 3-0 up before Joseph Rees and George Sheppard replied for the Young Guns.
And Cardiff Airport cruised into the second round of the Ardal South Cup with a 6-1 demolition of Ynysgerwn.
Jack Davies got a hattrick for the Jenner Park club, who have won their last three games in the Ardal South West.
Sam Galsworthy and Niall Chinn both scored in the second half before former Barry Town United midfielder Aiden Lewis struck deep into stoppage time with his second goal of the season.
