A man is being questioned by detectives following a suspected arson attack in Barry.
Emergency services were called out to a fire near the former O'Brien's pub on Holton Road at around 2am on Friday morning.
South Wales Police said a 37 year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.
The fire was brought under control in just under four hours.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews, three appliances and two water bowsers from Barry, Penarth and Maindee attended the scene of a fire involving a mixed-use commercial and domestic three-storey property with basement."
"Four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one covering jet, two short extension ladders, and cutting gear were used to extinguish the fire. All persons were accounted for."
