Barry Ladies Choir join 300 women in song at inaugural Festival for Female Voices.
On 7th March, Barry Ladies Choir joined 300 women in song as they represented Barry at the inaugural Festival for Female Voices at Maesteg Town Hall.
It was a sensational celebration of women’s voices as female choirs from across South Wales united for a full day of music, empowerment, and harmony.
The choir took part in interactive vocal workshops during the day then performed with 11 other choirs in a celebration concert in the evening. They also performed 3 songs of their own: ‘Feed The Birds’, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ & ‘Fly Me to the Moon’. Their Musical Director, Emily, says: “The ladies really rose to the occasion and are such a credit to Barry!”
The choir rehearse Tuesdays 7-8.45 pm at Holy Trinity Hall, with new members of all abilities and experience are welcome at anytime.
They are now learning new music in preparation for Usk Choral Festival and their Annual Summer Concert in July. Songs include ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’, music from ‘La La Land’, ‘Finlandia’ by Sibelius and ‘Calon Lan.’
Their next performance is 10.30 am Friday, 10th April at the Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern Spring Coffee Morning at Murchfield Community Centre, Dinas Powys. For further info on this event please email dpvc@btinternet.com or call 02920 513 700
