The Mayor of Barry, Councillor Dennis Clarke, invested his own Scout Troop on Wednesday, 15th October 2025.
The role of the Mayor’s Scout Troop is to support the Mayor at Civic and Charity events during the Mayor’s term of office. The seven chosen scouts received a new Barry Town Council Mayor’s Troop Necker.
The troop will attend events such as the Remembrance Day Parade and Service and the Christmas Concert, as well as charity events held throughout the year.
The scouts chosen for the troop were selected by Cathie Steele, Cardiff and the Vale Area Scouts, and they, along with their parents, were invited to the Council’s Chamber to receive their Neckers from the Mayor. The Mayor spoke of his time in the Scouts, and the Scouts returned the honour by presenting the Mayor with his very own necker. The Mayor is looking forward to working with the scouts for the remainder of his term.
The Mayor’s Scout troop is one of the Mayor’s methods to raise the profile of youth in the community and also the Scout organisation.
