The owner of a burger stand at a Barry Island funfair has been fined for serious breaches of food hygeine laws.
Council officers discovered numerous health and safety failings during a routine inspection of the Fish, Chips and Burgers unit at Barry Island Pleasure Park in March 2024.
Jamil Ur Rehman, who ran the stand, pleaded guilty to eleven charges.

Inspectors found a lack of adequate hand-washing facilities along with poor cleaning practices and an inadequate water safety.
Shared Regulatory Services (SRS), which oversees trading standards in Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend, served a remedial action notice which banned the sale of ready-to-eat food from the stand.

During later inspections, it was found that despite some initial improvements, standards had repeatedly declined.
A second action notice and multiple hygeine improvement notices were issued after officers found evidence of poor separation of raw and ready-to-eat food, inadequate temperature control, risks of cross contamination and unsafe arrangements for waste and drainage.

One photo, published by Vale of Glamorgan Council, showed a waste oil container which was gnawed by rats.
In court, Rehman was ordered to pay £1,146 - including £640 in fines for two offences, a £256 victim surcharge and costs of £250.
Following sentencing, Cllr Ruba Sivagnanam, cabinet member for regulatory services at Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: "The failures identified by our inspection demonstrated the genuine risk posed to public health by this operator."
"Our officers always seek to work with businesses to achieve compliance, but where serious breaches persist, we will not hesitate to take formal action to protect residents and visitors alike."
"We hope this prosecution sends a clear message that food safety is not optional and must be taken seriously."
