Lifeboat crews were called out to the same rowing boat near Aberthaw twice in less than 24 hours.
One man was rescued on Thursday afternoon after the specialist boat had hit the rocks.
The RNLI at Barry Dock said it was called out by the coastguard at just after 2.40pm - they found the man, who had been in the water for some time, holding onto his rowing boat to stop it from being smashed.
The boat was walked safely around the bay and the casaulty, who was cold and had his trainers shredded by the rocks, was handed over to the Coastguard.
RNLI volunteers were called out again at around 8am on Friday following reports of a drifting rowing boat in the same area.
They found the same vessel, which was involved in the earlier incident, safely at anchor with no one onboard.
