Dunraven Bay has been named in an annual list of the UK's top fifty beaches.
The Southerndown beach, situtated on Glamorgan's Heritage Coast, was one of eight Welsh locations to make The Times' annual guide.
Shell Island in Gwynedd was named the pick of the Welsh beaches but the overall winner was Portstewart Strand in Northern Ireland.
The top 50 list, published on Monday, describes Dunraven Bay as "an otherworldy beach, as good for fossil hunting as it is for simply admiring the views across the Bristol Channel - and if it seems vaguely familiar, that's because it's played the part of several planets in Doctor Who."
Water quality is described as excellent, in line with Natural Resources Wales' annual bathing water grades.
Two years ago, Southerndown was stripped of its Blue Flag because of concerns over toilet facilities - although this year, Keep Wales Tidy gave the beach a Seaside Award.
Also named in the list where Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower peninsula, Saundersfoot and Whitesands in Pembrokeshire, Mwnt in Ceredigion and Aberdaron and Llanddwyn on Anglesey
