
There's been national recognition for an exercise scheme encouraging older people in the Vale to become more active.
Sport Wales has praised the Golden Pass Project for the over-60s as a 'sector leader' through its multi agency and partnership work, as well as how it engages with the local community.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council scheme offers eight free activity sessions for older residents who are currently inactive - with the aim of encouraging those taking part to stay active.
Among those who benefited is Sandra Goodchap, who joined her local gym in Llandow while recovering from a broken hip.
She says the free sessions helped to support her rehabilitation and recovery, adding: "This has just been absolutely wonderful, I'm able to do all of the things I wanted to do again and it's strengthened my body."
Marlene Simmonds, another resident who has joined the project, said: "It's helped me tenfold really, I'm feeling more confident in myself and coming to the gym has also helped me with my mental health as I live on my own and struggled to find somewhere that was suitable for me."
"My mobility has increased tremendously – especially at the gym - as I am now able to get on to quite a lot of the equipment without help."
Cllr Gwyn John, cabinet member for sport, leisure and wellbeing, added: "It's fantastic to see the Golden Pass making such a difference in people's lives."
