Celebrations are being held to mark the 65th anniversary of a key community resource in Barry.
The Vale Family Start centre on Gladstone Road initially opened in July 1960 as Maes-y-Coed School - at the time, it was one of the few schools devoted to education pupils with special needs.
Maes-y-Coed was eventually succeeded by larger specialist education facilities in the Vale - but the building was transformed into the current home of Flying Start, which provides services such as childcare, parenting classes and play & development sessions.

But former teachers and staff at Maes-y-Coed have maintained contact with pupils and their families long since the school closed.
A special coffee morning will be held at the Flying Start centre on Tuesday 29th July from 10.30am - 12.30pm, with families, staff and pupils invited to attend.
Cllr Eddie Williams, cabinet member for social care at Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: "This event is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of this cherished building, and will bring together those who have contributed to its rich history from its years as the site for Maes-y-Coed School to today where it continues to support children and families across the Vale through Flying Start."
