A community garden on a Penarth estate has been given a makeover as part of a 'Give and Gain' day.
St Luke's was refurbised by volunteers from a construction firm currently working on the new £22 million special needs school at Cosmeston Lakes.
Teams from Vale of Glamorgan Council also joined in with a revamp of the area surrounding the local food pod, which is run from a converted shipping container.
The upgrade took place as part of the council's Clean Slate neighbourhood project.
The Food Pod has been run since March 2021, offering tinned & perishable goods, toiletries and hygiene products to local residents.
Mark Ellis, community investment and involvement officer, said: "The team have worked really hard on the food pod and community garden project, assisted by colleagues from Housing Management."
"In addition, a group of volunteers have been running the Food Pod for four years and have overseen a big increase in people using the Food Pod over the last 12 months despite having to reduce the service to once a week."
Morgan Sindall also donated plants and materials for the community garden with volunteers replanting the planters and painting fences.
Maddy Thomas, social value advisor at Morgan Sindall, added: "By supporting and partaking in local community initiatives, we ensure that our projects are benefitting the communities they serve directly, like the community garden at Penarth Food Pod."
"It was a pleasure working alongside Mark, members of the local community and our supply chain partners on the 'Give and Gain' day!"
