A housing partnership in the Vale of Glamorgan has been nominated for a top award.
Tai ar y Cyd ('Shared Housing') brings together 24 social landlords alongside the county council, the Welsh Government and leading industry experts to deliver affordable and sustainable homes.
The project, led by Vale of Glamorgan Council's housing team, has been nominated in the innovation category at this year's Welsh Housing Awards, having already won a prize for construction excellence.
Homes are designed using a standardised pattern book that include advanced building techniques and priortisies the use of Welsh and UK-grown timber - therefore cutting emissions while supporting local supply chains.
Many of the council's housing developments now include green features including rainwater harvesting facilities and living walls made out of vegetation, such as those at the Llys yr Eglwys apartments in Barry.

More recently, a new technology called SolShare has been introduced at some apartment buildings, splitting the energy collected from solar panels on a single roof between multiple properties.
It helps housing tenants to save money on energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint - and in in once case, a 30-flat site has produced 13.5 tonnes less carbon over a three-month period.
Sandra Perkes, cabinet member for public sector housing, said: "As a council, we are committed to not only looking after our tenants, but also protecting the planet. We embrace the latest industry advancements to provide people with comfortable, ultra-modern places to call home."
"Environmentally friendly features are a key aspect of this work to help address the Climate Emergency we declared in 2019 and realise our Project Zero commitment to be a carbon neutral organisation by 2030."
"Our cutting-edge approach is bringing real benefits for people, with tenants often saving considerable sums of money by using the clean energy their developments generate."
The 2025 Welsh Housing Awards will be held at the Mercure Hotel in Cardiff on Thursday 27th November.
