A team of council workers has been honoured for getting disabled people involved with their activities.
The healthy living team at Vale Council were among the winners of the Understanding Disability Awards, organised by the Cardiff and the Vale Parents Federation.
The annual event recognises the contributions of those who work to include people with learning disabilities across the region.
Staff and volunteers in the department have undertaken specialist inclusion training - and go onto deliver exercise schemes to help residents with medical conditions live a healthier lifestyle.
Their work also encompasses supporting children within school autism units to access activities and delivering the Families First Holiday Club, offering play and sporting opportunities for disabled children.
Healthy living staff have also supported older adults in the Vale to access suitable physical activities as part of the Golden Pass project for over 60s.
The team have been presented with a plaque, which will be displayed at their base at the council's Alps depot in Wenvoe.
Cllr Eddie Williams, cabinet member for social care and health, said: "I’d like to congratulate the team on this achievement. It reflects an important council aim to deliver for all of our residents regardless of background, sexual orientation, gender, age, and level of ability."
“We strive to be an inclusive organisation that values equality, tolerance and diversity and this award is a sign that we are heading in the right direction, although there is always more work that can be done.”
Other initiatives include the Health Disability Pathway project, run alongside the Cardiff and Vale health board and Disability Sport Wales.
Free sporting activities are delivered as part of Teenscheme, a youth club for disabled people, while Young Ambassadors' leaders deliver sessions at Ysgol Y Deri in Penarth.
The team has also achieved ribbon and bronze status as part of the insport Partnership Programme - recognising positive inclusive practice to support disabilities in sport - and is now aiming to move to the silver level.
