A new digital system for maternity records has been officially launched at hospitals in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The BadgerNet Maternity System will allow staff, including midwives and consultants, to update records in real-time using an app and an online portal.
The Cardiff and Vale health board (CAVUHB) says it will make the process easier and more conevnient.
The Badger Notes app will also allow pregnant women to access and add to their own records, along with key information about birth plans and upcoming appointments, as well as their baby's development.
Abigail Holmes, director of midwifery and neonatal services at CAVUHB, said: "We are delighted to introduce the BadgerNet Maternity System and Badger Notes, which will transform the way we support pregnant women and birthing people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and reaffirm our commitment to delivering innovative and patient-centred care."
"This secure and innovative system will empower women by providing instant access to their maternity records and key information, helping them feel confident and well-supported throughout their pregnancy."
All information is stored securely and can only be accessed with secure login details, similar to online banking. For care purposes, healthcare professionals such as GPs will also have 24-hour access to information.
