The Housing Secretary has toured a number of key council housing projects in the Barry area.
Three schemes are currently being built in the town at Coldbrook Road East, Clos Holm View and the site of the former Colcot Clinic.
Work was completed last October on a new 53-home development on Hayeswood Road, as part of Vale Council's long-term plan to tackle the housing crisis.
Around 6,900 households are on the council's waiting list for housing, according to a report published late last year.
Jayne Bryant, whose brief includes local government, said: "We know that there is a real need for good quality homes in this area and it was wonderful to see some of the innovative projects the Vale of Glamorgan Council has been delivering to address housing challenges in Barry."
"We provided more than £17m in 2023/24 through our social housing grant to support housing developments across the county and have allocated a further £10m this financial year to help deliver even more affordable and modern homes."

The Coldbrook Road East development - made up of one and two-bedroom homes at a former quarry site - is on course to be completed in April.
12 new apartments are being created at the former Colcot Clinic site while 31 homes are being built as part of the second phase of the Clos Holm View scheme.
The latter, which includes a further 11 houses, includes some adapted homes to help meet the needs of families with a disabled person.
Council leader Lis Burnett said: "I was delighted to be joined by the Cabinet Secretary on this visit to see our ambitious council housing developments."
"Ensuring that every Vale resident has access to a long-term home is a priority for the council during this period of unprecedented demand for housing."
"The Cabinet Secretary and I discussed the importance of such housing schemes and how these new sites are helping some of the most vulnerable members of the community."
“The council is committed to tackling the housing crisis by building quality homes for today’s Vale residents and for future generations."
