Two lifeboat crews were called out after an inflatable kayak was reportedly found washed ashore between Newton Point and the Ogmore River.
The RNLI at Porthcath were tasked at just before 10.45am on Wednesday morning to carry out a thorough search of the area.
Both the Atlantic 85 and D class lifeboats were joined by coastguard teams from Porthcawl and Port Talbot, who searched the shore.
But after around an hour, there were no reports of a missing person and the search was called off after nothing was found.
Anyone with information about the inflatable kayak should contact HM Coastguard.
