Two new electric vehicles have been introduced to Vale of Glamorgan Council's kerb-side recycling fleet.
It's the latest step in an ongoing vehicle replacement programme as the local authority aims to move towards decarbinsation by 2050.
Both Romaquip vehicles were also partially funded by a Welsh Government grant to aid the transition from diesel to electric.
The council says it will also nearly halve fuel costs as well as reducing carbon emissions by nearly three quarters.
Cllr Mark Wilson, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: "It is great to see these 100 per cent electric vehicles join our kerb-side fleet."
“The vehicles are a key part of the council’s Project Zero strategy to become a carbon-neutral authority by 2030."
“As a council, we are working at a pace to reduce our carbon footprint and make positive changes considering the ongoing climate and nature emergencies."
“We anticipate that there will be a 49 per cent saving in fuel costs because of the change, as well as a 74 per cent carbon saving."
“Introducing electric vehicles to our recycling fleet not only helps reduce carbon emissions from everyday operations, but also demonstrates our commitment to providing residents with an effective service, whilst keeping it sustainable."
